The world begins when a baby enters it: when a young mother cuddles a tiny baby for the first time in her life. And it's called family when a new daddy presses the baby's forehead to his lips, breathless, hands trembling, and inhales the unusually sweet smell of skin.

And so began our family story. I'm Selina, a product designer and Master of Social Psychology. My husband Roberts is an entrepreneur. And that's how all three of our children, who are decades apart in age - our granddaughters are the same age as our youngest daughter - have seen the world. So every time every part of our being was rejoicing in the new life on this wonderful earth, the question arose:

How can I not lose the balance between my previous life and our being and the unique needs of a baby?

It is a question that invariably recurs in the minds of all parents, with every first cry of the new personality in the hospital ward.
